“Wall of Life” art exhibition: Humanitarian values through the eyes of children

The medical humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)/Doctors Without Borders in UAE, will inaugurate today the “Wall of Life” exhibition, an unique collection of children artworks in which they express their understanding of humanitarian values. Nearly 2,000 students in the UAE, representing 50 different nationalities, participated in the production of 66 pieces of art.

The event is held under the patronage of His Excellency, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Community Development Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan at the Central Galleria, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai. This free event is open to the public, daily from 10:00 – 22:00 Sunday to Wednesday, and 10.00am till 12 midnight Thursday to Saturday and will end on June 5th.

The exhibition is the last phase of MSF’s “We Care” educational initiative organized for grade three students in 13 schools in the UAE. The initiative aims to raise awareness about humanitarian principles and action, and the work that MSF undertakes globally. After 40 minutes of MSF presentation and a question and answer session, the students were given a project to create a group art poster depicting what they have learnt about caring for vulnerable people around the world. As a result, 66 unique paintings interpreting the theme ‘We Care’ have been created.

We are so pleased to see the wonderful art work that 8 years old students have created”, said Ghada Hatim, MSF’s Executive Director in the Middles East. “We are impressed by their deep understanding of humanitarian values and their creativity in expressing their ideas”, she added. “We thank all children and their teachers for their collaboration that made the “We Care” initiative a success.” We are pleased to partner with the Mall of the Emirates to reach out to a wider community and showcase these amazing paintings in the Central Galleria, ” she added.

The Wall of Life, which reflects values of humanitarianism and volunteerism, brings a very important social message to children and adults, “said Anna Mansour, Associate Director for Mall of the Emirates. “We are proud to be part of an educational program initiated by a leader in the medical humanitarian field such as MSF,” she added.
