We deliver lifesaving medical care

Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières is a global medical humanitarian organisation that offers assistance to people based on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. Since 1971, Doctors Without Borders has operated with a fierce—and challenging—commitment to independence, impartiality, and neutrality.

How MSF’s Work Aligns With Islamic Charity

Our mission is to provide medical care based solely on needs — without discrimination and independent of any political, religious, or military agendas. All MSF medical services are free of charge and prioritize those most in need.

MSF’s core humanitarian principles — impartiality, neutrality, independence, and medical ethics —naturally align with the values of Islamic charity. Our commitment to preserving life, dignity, and well-being reflects key objectives recognized in Islamic giving. MSF has no affiliations with industries or entities that contradict Islamic ethical principles.

We therefore welcome Islamic charitable contributions such as Sadaqah, Zakat, and other permissible forms of giving.

Your Sadaqah Helps Save Lives

Sadaqah contributions enable MSF to respond rapidly to emergencies, provide clean water and nutritious food for patients, displaced populations, and refugees, and deliver essential medical assistance in crises around the world. Here are some examples of what we can achieve with your Sadaqah.

  • Emergency and trauma care
  • Surgical services
  • Maternal and child healthcare
  • Treatment for malnutrition
  • Outbreak response and vaccinations
    Mental health and psychosocial services
  • Primary healthcare for displaced communities
  • Mobile medical services in hard-to-reach areas

Your Sadaqah helps ensure that people in urgent need receive high-quality, impartial medical care — free of charge and grounded in dignity and compassion.

Zakat Giving With MSF UAE

MSF is committed to utilizing Zakat funds in alignment with Islamic principles to support humanitarian and medical assistance programs worldwide. Since January 2025, we have established a dedicated Zakat vehicle with all systems in place to receive, manage, and disburse these contributions appropriately.

With guidance from respected Islamic giving and Shariah advisory experts, MSF ensures that Zakat is handled in full accordance with Islamic requirements and our humanitarian standards.
All Zakat-designated funds received by MSF are allocated only to activities and contexts that meet our internal eligibility criteria and the applicable Islamic guidelines. If you would like to learn which projects and countries can receive Zakat support, or what types of expenses are eligible, please feel free to contact us at [email protected].
