About MSF

Founded in 1971, Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, exclusion from healthcare and natural disasters. It was created in the belief that all people should have access to healthcare regardless of gender, race, religion, creed or political affiliation and that people’s medical needs outweigh respect for national borders. Today, there are over 46,000 MSF staff working in over 72 countries. MSF has been in the UAE since 1992 and is registered as a member of the International Humanitarian City in Dubai.

About Amman Reconstructive Surgery hospital

The reconstructive surgery program(RSP) in Amman was established to treat people injured in war and unrest. With a high-level of surgical expertise and extensive facilities, the hospital provides a base for MSF to treat patients with complicated injuries who could not be treated in their own country. The RSP was set up in 2006 in response to the significant medical needs generated by the Iraq war, but today treats people from across the region. In addition to sophisticated surgery, the RSP provides psychological healthcare, physiotherapy and a safe space to recover, for adults and children who have faced far too much violence.
