MSF Receives Nine Children and Caretakers from Gaza at Reconstructive Surgery Hospital

3/7/2025

MSF received nine children and their caretakers from Gaza at the MSF reconstructive surgery hospital in Jordan. In collaboration with the Jordanian Ministry of Health, these children were evacuated from Gaza after suffering severe injuries caused by relentless Israeli airstrikes across the Strip.

These children will need long-term rehabilitation, including surgery, physiotherapy and mental health support. Their injuries include severe fractures, burns, and complex internal wounds, as well as deep psychological trauma. Many of them will need years to heal from what they have endured,” Cyril Cappai- Head of Mission in Jordan.

While we welcome the evacuation of these children and their caretakers, who cannot access specialised medical care in Gaza due to the destruction of the health system, we know that they represent just a drop in the ocean. WHO estimates that over 10,000 patients need medical evacuation from Gaza as thousands remain trapped without access to proper healthcare.

MSF urgently calls for the protection of civilians across Gaza and the swift and unimpeded evacuation of patients who require specialised healthcare outside of the Strip. The indiscriminate bloodshed must stop now.
